“Escrever tem desses mistérios … de repente, sem esperar, um dia você consegue despertar alguma coisa que está viva dentro de muita gente” (ABREU, 2014, p. 47). Com fundamento nessa citação de Caio Fernando de Abreu, no livro Onde andará Dulce Veiga?, o presente artigo visa a buscar e mostrar as facetas da literatura e seu poder de identificação do leitor com o enredo. Qual fogo (re)acende chamas no leitor da obra de Abreu? Dulce Veiga ousa mudar e relembra aos leitores que isso é possível. Nesse contexto, buscou-se refletir acerca do anseio por mudança e da busca dos sonhos. A metodologia dividiu-se em três momentos: a leitura e apreciação de obras da literatura gaúcha, a elaboração de um portfólio como materialização do projeto acadêmico Vejo-me nos seus olhos e a revisão bibliográfica de teóricos, como Zacharias, Bauman, Barroco e Superti. Por meio dessa vasta experiência, foi possível concluir que a personagem literária, bem como o viés artístico que ela representa, inspira o leitor a ter coragem de seguir seus desejos e lutar pelo que lhe é belo.

"Writing has these mysteries ... suddenly, without waiting, one day you can awaken something that is alive within many people". Based on this quote by Caio Fernando de Abreu (2014, p. 47), in the book Onde andará Dulce Veiga?, this article aims to seek and show the facets of literature and its power to identify the reader with the plot. What fire (re) lights flames in the reader of Abreu's work? Dulce Veiga dares to change and reminds readers that this is possible. In this context, we sought to reflect on the desire for changing and the search for dreams. The methodology was divided into three moments: the reading and appreciation of works from Rio Grande do Sul literature, the elaboration of a portfolio as materialization of the academic project I see myself in your eyes and the bibliographic review of theorists, such as Zacharias, Bauman, Baroque and Superti. Through this vast experience, it was possible to conclude that the literary character, as well as the artistic bias that she represents, inspires the reader to have the courage to follow their desires and fight for what is beautiful to them.
