This study investigated, through a Literature Review, how experiments in university extension programs are addressed in Brazilian research on Science Education (2001–2023) based on publications retrieved from the Oasisbr portal. The qualitative analysis, relying on Discursive Textual Analysis, highlighted the prevalence of conceptions associated with a simplistic paradigm, centered on fixed scripts and the verification of theories. However, it also showcased transition movements towards constructivist perspectives, walking hand in hand with the complexity paradigm—in such perspectives experimentation now emphasizes problematization as well as dialogue and the active role of students.
