A pesquisa visa analisar a representação da mulher presente nas páginas do periódico espírita Orientador da cidade de Passo Fundo-RS entre 1948 – ano de fundação do jornal – e 1958, quando encerra o primeiro período de regular publicação. Nesse sentido, nosso olhar não se voltará somente ao que nos foi dito nos textos publicados, mas também a maneira como disseram, os termos que utilizaram os autores para descrever e/ou representar as mulheres e também nos interessará o interdito, estabelecido pelas zonas de silêncio, no que se refere às mulheres nas páginas do periódico. Procura-se, dessa forma, dar visibilidade à mulher como sujeito histórico no campo religioso.

The intention of this research is to analyze the representation of women in the pages of the spiritist periodical Orientador of the city of Passo Fundo, between 1948 – the year the newspaper was founded – and 1958, when the first period of regular publication ended. In this sense, it will not focus only on what was said in the published texts, but also the way they said it, the terms the authors utilized to describe and/or represent women, and we also look at the interdict established by the silent zones, concerning women in the pages of the periodical. In this way an attempt is made to give visibility to women as a historical subject in the field of religion.
