O presente estudo trata de um ensaio bibliográfico sobre a “Revolução Cultural” da segunda metade do século XX, um fenômeno sociocultural global de aceleradas e profundas transformações dos padrões culturais vigentes, especialmente daqueles que regulavam a relação entre os sexos e as gerações e que definiam os laços familiares e comunitários. Objetiva-se, aqui, analisar o que foi a “Revolução Cultural” ocorrida na segunda metade do século XX e os efeitos desta sobre o mundo ocidental – incluindo o Brasil –, sobretudo no que tange às mudanças desencadeadas nas relações socioculturais entre diferentes sexos, gêneros e gerações. Recorre-se, para isso, ao método de revisão narrativa da literatura, com ênfase na análise da produção intelectual do historiador egípcio/britânico Eric Hobsbawm, pretendendo-se, desse modo, contribuir para a ampliação da compreensão sobre o fenômeno em questão.

The present study is a bibliographical essay on the "Cultural Revolution" of the second half of the twentieth century, a global sociocultural phenomenon of accelerated and deep transformations of the current cultural patterns, especially those regulated the relationship between the sexes and generations and that defined the bonds family and community. The purpose of this paper is to analyze what was the "Cultural Revolution" that occurred in the second half of the twentieth century and what its effects on the western world - including Brazil -, especially regarding the changes triggered in sociocultural relations between different sexes, genders and generations. For this, it use the method of narrative literature review, with emphasis on the analysis of the intellectual production of the Egyptian / British historian Eric Hobsbawm, thus aiming to contribute to the broadening of the understanding of the phenomenon in question.
