UTILIZAÇÃO DE PLANTAS MEDICINAIS PELA COMUNIDADE RURAL MOACIR LUCENA, APODI-RN

Objetivou-se com esse trabalho realizar o levantamento das espécies medicinais que são utilizadas
pela população da Comunidade Rural Moacir Lucena, em Apodi - RN. Durante o mês de novembro de 2007, foram
realizadas entrevistas com a aplicação de questionários estruturados em todas as residências da localidade. Foram
aplicados 20 questionários, com questões sobre as espécies, partes utilizadas, indicações terapêuticas, listagem de plantas,
além de questionamento sobre o hábito de cultivar alguma espécie nas residências. No decorrer da entrevista, foram
recolhidas as espécies citadas pelo entrevistado, que posteriormente, foram identificadas pelo nome científico e separadas
por famílias botânicas. Todas as famílias entrevistadas fazem uso de plantas com fins medicinais e 80% dessas famílias
cultivam alguma espécie em suas residências, foram citadas 39 espécies vegetais utilizadas para essa finalidade. As
famílias Lamiaceae, Rutaceae, Anacardiaceae e Asteraceae apresentaram maior número de espécies citadas. Cicatrização
de ferimentos, antiinflamatórios, dores de cabeça, intestinais e musculares, calmante, transtornos digestivos e sintomas
gripais, foram às principais indicações terapêuticas. Folhas e cascas foram às partes das plantas mais utilizadas e os chás
são as principais formas de uso. Portanto, para esta comunidade é marcante a tradição por seus habitantes buscar por
recursos naturais para tratamento de doenças.

The objective of this work was to perform a survey on medicinal species that are used by the
population of the Rural Community Moacir Lucena in Apodi - RN. During November 2007, interviews using structured
questionnaires were conducted in all households of the community. A total of 20 questionnaires were applied, with
questions about the species, used parts, therapeutic indications, plant lists, and the tradition of cultivating medicinal plants
in home gardens. During the interview, the species mentioned by the community were collected and later identified by the
scientific name and separated into families. All the interviewed families make use of plants with medicinal purposes and
80% of households cultivate some species in their home gardens; 39 plant species were mentioned as having this
utilization. The families Lamiaceae, Rutaceae, Anacardiaceae and Asteraceae had the greatest number of cited species.
Wound healing, anti-inflammatory, headache, intestinal and muscle pains, sedative, digestive disorders and flu symptoms
were the main indications. Leaves and bark were the most used plant parts and infusion the main form of use. Therefore,
the tradition of seeking natural remedies to treat diseases is prominent this community.
