Embora a profissão de historiador não seja oficialmente regulamentada pelo Estado, sua existência é um fato inegável e imprescindível para o trabalho nas instituições de guarda de memória, em especial, os museus. Deste modo, a presença deste profissional da história figura em um outro olhar sobre o acervo dos museus, uma visão crítica e científica, porém, seu lugar ainda é incerto nas próprias instituições de cunho histórico. A partir de visitas técnicas realizadas a alguns dos principais museus históricos dos Campos Gerais, no Paraná, o presente trabalho se propõe a discutir a importância do historiador, seu papel nos museus históricos e como a ausência da atuação deste reflete negativamente nos museus, culminando em um espaço expositivo e discurso museal elitista e não-questionador.

Although the profession of historian is not officially regulated by the Brazilian State, its existence is an undeniable and indispensable fact for working in institutions of memory, especially museums. In this way, the presence of this professional of history is another look at the collection of museums, a critical and scientific view, but its place is still uncertain in the institutions of historical nature. Based on technical visits to some of the main historical museums of Campos Gerais, in Paraná, the present work proposes to discuss the importance of the historian, his role in historical museums and how the absence of his work reflects negatively in museums, culminating in an exhibition space and elitist and non-questioning museological discourse.
