The objective of this work is to try to reflect, from an historical perspective, the evolution of the Galician agrarian landscape in the Modern Age (centuries XVI - XVIII) and first half of the XIX, centring us for it in the analysis of the old province of Lugo. In this zone of Galicia, mainly from second half of the XVIII, important transformations in the agrarian system (new introduction of plants, “acortiñamento de agras”, increase of the surface dedicated to meadow and intensification of the breaking up new ground…), they contribute, to a great extent, to form the characteristics of its present agrarian landscape.

El objetivo de este trabajo es tratar de reflexionar, desde una perspectiva histórica, sobre la evolución del paisaje agrario gallego en la Edad Moderna (siglos XVI –XVIII) y primera mitad del XIX, centrándonos para ello en el análisis de la antigua provincia de Lugo. En esta zona de Galicia, principalmente desde la segunda mitad del XVIII, importantes transformaciones en el sistema agrario (introducción de nueva plantas, “acortiñamento de agras”, aumento de la superficie dedicada a prado e intensificación de la roturación de monte…), contribuyen, en gran medida, a configurar las características de su actual paisaje agrario.
