Baseando-se em estudos sobre segmentação cognitiva em tradução e no surgimento de novos modos de produção decorrentes da criação de tecnologias de tradução (Dragsted, 2004), este artigo apresenta a estrutura e o desenho de um projeto de pesquisa que tem por objetivo investigar o impacto das novas tecnologias de tradução na cognição humana. Através da revisão da literatura sobre segmentação cognitiva em tradução e tecnologias de tradução, o artigo discute possíveis implicações que o uso de sistemas de memória de tradução possa ter no desempenho de tradutores.
Building on studies of cognitive segmentation in translation and on the emergence of new modes of production with the advent of translation technologies (Dragsted, 2004), this article presents the structure and design of a research project which aims at investigating the impact of translation technology on human cognition. By reviewing the literature on cognitive segmentation in translation and on translation technology, it discusses the possible implications that the use of translation memory systems may have on the performance of translators.
