O Projeto Kayuvá- Pinhão Familiar Sustentável se propõe a apoiar a produção sustentável e o comércio justo de pinhão, junto à agricultura familiar da região de Lages, na Serra Catarinense. Busca-se agregar valor à produção florestal não-madeireira, valorizar a floresta com Araucaria angustifolia e estimular políticas públicas florestais, apropriadas a este tipo de setor. Entre os produtos florestais não madeireiros (PFNM) destaca-se o consumo do pinhão, atividade tradicional da Serra Catarinense, que necessita de apoio para se desenvolver de forma sustentável, preservando a biodiversidade e garantindo renda justa aos agricultores familiares. Como conseqüência da agregação do valor comercial do pinhão tem-se a valorização dos locais de ocorrência da Araucária, o que auxilia a sua preservação.

Kayuvá Project – Pine nut Family Sustainable aims to support sustainable production and fair trade of pine nut, along with family agriculture in the region of Lages, Santa Catarina Serra. It seeks to add value to non-timber forest production, valorize the forest with Araucaria angustifolia and stimulate appropriate public policies to this type of industry. Between the non-timber forest products (NTFPs) stands the consumption of pine nuts, a traditional activity in Santa Catarina, which needs support to develop in a sustainable way, preserving the biodiversity and ensuring fair income to farmers. As a result of aggregation of the market value of the pinion we have the valorization of sites with occurrence of Araucaria, which assists in its preservation.
