A democratização da educação é inegável para o desenvolvimento social em todas as áreas, o que contribui para a construção de uma sociedade participativa e mais justa para todos. Sob este prisma o presente artigo tem como propósito analisar o processo de democratização do Ensino Técnico e como ele influenciou diretamente no projeto de expansão dos Campus do Instituto Federal de São Paulo - IFSP, de modo a atender as necessidades das distintas regiões onde este se insere. A pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, estrutura-se em uma análise bibliográfica, a partir de enfoques teóricos discutidos por autores que pesquisam sobre o tema, e também em uma análise documental, na qual são objeto de exploração os documentos nacionais, configurados na legislação nacional e os institucionais, tais como Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional e os Relatórios de Gestão. A partir destes enfoques são analisados, além do contexto histórico, a evolução desta instituição educacional e a abertura de seus trinta e três Campus, voltados ao atendimento de arranjos produtivos e sociais locais. O estudo revela que a expansão do IFSP se insere em uma política educacional atual pautada na interiorização da educação técnica e superior o que possibilita acesso à educação pública de qualidade, nas regiões mais distantes, alinhada às questões científicas e tecnológicas, assim, elevando o nível de escolaridade dos estudantes e fomentando a qualificação profissional.

The democratization of education is undeniable for the social development in all areas, which contributes to the construction of a more participative and fairer society for all. In this perspective, the purpose of this article is to analyze the process of democratization of Technical Education and how it directly influenced the expansion project of the Campus of the Federal Institute of São Paulo - IFSP, in order to meet the needs of the different places where it is inserted. The research, of a qualitative nature, is structured in a bibliographic analysis, as of theoretical approaches discussed by authors who research on the matter, and also in a documentary analysis, in which the national documents, are configured in the legislation and institutionals, as like the Institutional Development Plan and the Management Reports. Based on these approaches are analyzad, beyond historical context, the evolution of this educational institution and the opening of their thirty three Campus, focused at attending to local productive and social arrangements. The study reveals that the expansion of the IFSP, inserted in a current education lined on the internalization of technical and higher education, which allows access to quality public education in the most distant places, aligned with scientific and technological, rather, elevating the level of schooling of students and fostering professional qualification.
