No contexto atual da América Latina e tendo como cenário as polÃticas públicas compensatórias no Brasil, este trabalho irá examinar a relação entre a poesia negra brasileira e as ações afirmativas. Pretende-se verificar questões concernentes à representação literária da identidade do negro na literatura brasileira (poesia) ao longo dos séculos XIX e XX em termos da reivindicação do direito à plenitude da cidadania.

Under the perspective of the present Latin America political and social context and in the
scenario of the compensatory public policies in Brasil today, this work will examine the relationship
between Afro-Brazilian poetry and the affirmative actions. The literary representation of the afro-Brazilian identity in Brazilian literature (poetry) along 19th and 20th centuries will be analyzed in terms of the contemporary demanding for full citizenship rights
