Quando nos propomos a estudar sobre os percursos e desafios da Educação Cristã é por entender que se trata de uma temática que necessita ser discutida em nosso contexto atual. Como objetivo, buscamos identificar e apresentar os aspectos históricos e a concepção de Educação Cristã construída ao longo dos tempos. Para isso, foi necessário adotarmos, como metodologia, a revisão bibliográfica que nos possibilitou compreender e aprofundar a trajetória a histórica desta educação em nosso país desde os desafios lançados no período da Reforma Protestante, da Pós-Reforma e do início da proposta de uma Educação Cristã no Brasil. Da abordagem do conceito e da definição de Educação Cristã, buscamos aprofudar conhecimentos básicos quanto ao papel do professor e do estudante nesta proposta educativa, guiados pelos princípios da Ética Cristã. Concluímos que são muitos os desafios para a Educação Cristã no Século XXI, principalmente no que se refere à necessidade da construção de um debate ético quanto à importância da Educação Cristã e as contribuições que a Igreja Evangélica poderá proporcionar no campo pedagógico, o que justifica a relevância e a importância de estudos nesta área.
When we set out to study the paths and challenges of Christian Education, we understand that this is a topic that needs to be discussed in our current context. As an objective, we seek to identify and present the historical aspects and the concept of Christian Education constructed over time. To this end, we had to adopt, as a methodology, a bibliographic review that allowed us to understand and deepen the historical trajectory of this education in our country since the challenges launched during the period of the Protestant Reformation, the Post-Reformation and the beginning of the proposal for Christian Education in Brazil. From the approach to the concept and definition of Christian Education, we seek to deepen basic knowledge about the role of the teacher and the student in this educational proposal, guided by the principles of Christian Ethics. We conclude that there are many challenges for Christian Education in the 21st century, mainly with regard to the need to build an ethical debate about the importance of Christian Education and the contributions that the Evangelical Church can provide in the pedagogical field, which justifies the relevance and importance of studies in this area.
