Neste artigo, examina-se o tratamento do tempo e da subjetividade do personagem principal do romance A céu aberto (NOLL, 1996). Igualmente, são examinadas e criticadas as leituras de outros pesquisadores, as quais são feitas a partir de teorias pós-modernas. O exame do romance faz-se a partir da teorização de Marie Laure-Ryan (2009) acerca do tempo na narrativa. O exame crítico das leituras de Noll empreendidas por outros pesquisadores faz-se pela sua contraposição com a leitura feita a partir de Ryan e de considerações críticas acerca da subscrição a teorias pós-modernas no campo da crítica literária. Conclui-se que as leituras de orientação pós-moderna devem aceitar-se enquanto ficções críticas.

In this paper the treatment of the time and subjectivity of the main character in the novel A céu aberto (NOLL, 1996) is inquired. Other researchers' readings of this novel - which are made from a postmodern standpoint- are inquired and criticized as well. The novel's inquiry is based on Ryan's (2009) theorization about time in narrative. The critical inquiry on the other researchers' readings of the novel is made by comparing them with the reading based on Ryan and by critical considerations on the subscription to postmodern theories in the field of literary criticism. It is concluded that readings based on postmodern theories must accept themselves as critical fictions.
