This article proposes a comparative analysis of the way how the standard is built and about the conflicts inherent to the constitution of normative authority in Galician and Brazilian Portuguese. This type of comparative study among linguistic varieties is justified because they are "emerging languages”, in relativistic model of analisys, in diglossic situations within very different socio-historical contexts, and that have a relation of genetic affiliation inside the portugalego linguistic group. In this sense, the analysis of the conditions of production of norm and its conflicts in each case, and the linguistic ideologies involved, allows to understand the tensions between unity and fragmentation in the linguistic space identified with the "Portuguese language”.
