A presente pesquisa se desenvolveu em torno da análise comparativa entre as edificações históricas do antigo e novo fórum de Itapira, edificações construídas em épocas diferentes e de movimentos arquitetônicos distintos, porém ambas representando a chegada da modernidade para a produção arquitetônica da cidade de Itapira, interior de São Paulo, dentro de seus contextos. Para maior aprofundamento desta reflexão, se fez necessário a compreensão do contexto onde as edificações estudas estão inseridas, seus arquitetos, o fim para o qual foram construídas e particularmente sobre o conceito de modernidade ao longo do tempo. Ressalta-se a importância das edificações de valor histórico e sua preservação como parte importante para a memória e história da cidade. Preservar uma edificação não se trata apenas de guardar um passado, mas também de pensar o presente e o futuro.

This research was developed around the comparative analysis between the historic buildings of the old and new forum of Itapira, buildings built at different times and with different architectural movements, but both representing the arrival of modernity for the architectural production of the city of Itapira, interior of São Paulo, within their contexts. To further deepen this reflection, it was necessary to understand the context in which the buildings studied are located, their architects, the purpose for which they were built and particularly about the concept of modernity over time. It highlights the importance of buildings of historical value and their preservation as an important part of the city's memory and history. Preserving a building is not only about keeping a past, but also thinking about the present and the future.
