A presente pesquisa tem como tema o estudo sobre as evidências históricas da existência de Jesus de Nazaré, figura central da Bíblia, a Palavra de Deus. A pesquisa se justifica pelo fato de o Novo Testamento não apresentar uma imagem histórica necessariamente precisa da vida de Jesus Cristo. Pesquisar as principais fontes que contribuem para uma melhor visão do período e local em que Jesus viveu, e que auxiliam a moldar a sua imagem histórica, é importante para uma melhor compreensão de sua mensagem. O objetivo geral é identificar as principais evidências que contribuem para compor a imagem do Jesus histórico. A metodologia adotada para o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa foi a revisão de literatura. Foram coletados artigos escritos publicados entre 2002 e 2021, buscados sob os seguintes descritores: “Jesus histórico”; “Evangelho”; “Arqueologia”. Os artigos foram buscados nas bases de dados Scielo e Google Acadêmico, sendo escolhidos com base em sua relação com o tema. Foram selecionados trabalhos escritos em português, e desprezados aqueles escritos em outras línguas. A construção do Jesus histórico é uma tarefa árdua e complexa, e que talvez jamais apresente uma resposta definitiva. Apenas com uma análise abrangente é possível oferecer respostas sólidas nessa construção.
The theme of this research is the study of historical evidence for the existence of Jesus of Nazareth, a central figure in the Bible, the Word of God. The research is justified by the fact that the New Testament does not necessarily present an accurate historical image of the life of Jesus Christ. Researching the main sources that contribute to a better view of the period and place in which Jesus lived, and that help shape his historical image, is important for a better understanding of his message. The general objective is to identify the main evidence that contributes to composing the image of the historical Jesus. The methodology adopted for the development of this research was the literature review. Written articles published between 2002 and 2021 were collected, searched under the following descriptors: “Historical Jesus”; “Gospel”; “Archaeology”. The articles were searched in the Scielo and Google Scholar databases, and were chosen based on their relationship to the theme. Works written in Portuguese were selected, and those written in other languages were discarded. The construction of the historical Jesus is an arduous and complex task, and one that may never provide a definitive answer. Only with a comprehensive analysis is it possible to offer solid answers in this construction.
