INFÂNCIA E DIVERSIDADE: SIGNIFICAÇÕES DE GÊNERO NO BRINCAR DE CRIANÇAS EM UMA BRINQUEDOTECA

O artigo analisa as significações de gênero no brincar livre e espontâneo de crianças em uma brinquedoteca de instituição infantil. A análise baseia-se em pesquisa etnográfica realizada com trinta e duas crianças, de ambos os sexos e idade entre quatro e cinco anos, durante o período de seis meses. Os resultados indicam que as crianças não são receptoras passivas dos significados culturalmente produzidos sobre as diferenças e identidades de gênero. Da mesma forma que reproduzem papéis e comportamentos tradicionalmente atribuídos ao masculino e ao feminino elas também desenvolvem processos de singularização que subvertem a lógica binária para além das fronteiras identitárias estabelecidas.

This paper investigates and analyzes the meanings of gender in the free and spontaneous play of children in the toy library of a children institution. The analysis is based on an ethnographic study carried out with thirty-two children of both sexes, ages 4 and 5, over a period of six months. The results indicate that children are not passive recipients of culturally produced meanings about the differences of gender identities. In the same way, they copy roles and behaviors that are traditionally attributed to the masculine and the feminine, they also develop processes of singularization that subvert binary logic beyond the established boundaries of identity.
