O presente trabalho centra-se na pesquisa de uma instituição escolarpouco estudada na historiografia educacional. Trata-se do Instituto de Artes da Universidade do Distrito Federal (RJ) ― IA/UDF. A referida universidade foi criada por Anísio Teixeira em 1935. A UDF, porém, teve curta existência (1935 a 1939), e ainda que muitos trabalhos tenham sido escritos sobre a Universidade e suas escolas, não havia estudos sobreo seu Instituto de Artes. Dessa forma, o objetivo central desta pesquisa é compreender como se deu a criação do Instituto de Artes da UDF, o seu funcionamento e que nexos promoveu entre o campo das Artes Visuais e o escolar na tentativa de constituir uma cultura artístico-escolar. O referencial teórico que norteia as reflexões dessa pesquisa baseia-se nos trabalhos dos seguintes autores: Barbosa (2010, 2011, 2015), Cunha (2000, 2002), Lopes (2006, 2009) e Mendonça (2002). A metodologia consistiu-se em análise documental dos acervos das seguintes instituições: Programa de Estudos e Documentação Educação e Sociedade da UFRJ; Projeto Portinari da PUC-Rio e Hemeroteca Digital da Biblioteca Nacional. A análise das fontes permitiu confirmar a diferença de finalidades entre a Escola Nacional de Belas Artes e o Instituto de Artes da UDF, revelando o IA da UDF como uma experiência inovadora no campo do ensino de Arte no Brasil.
Thepresent work focuses on the research of a School Institution little studied in educational historiography. This is the Arts Institute of the University of the Federal District (RJ)-IA / UDF. This university was created by Anísio Teixeira in 1935. However, the UDF had a short existence (1935 to 1939), many works were written about the University and its schools, but there were no studies about its Institute of Arts. Thus, the main objective of this research is to understand how the UDF Institute of Arts was created, its functioning and what links it promoted between the field of Visual Arts and the school in an attempt to constitute an artistic-school culture. The theoretical framework that guides the reflections of this research is based on the works of the following authors: Barbosa (2010, 2011, 2015), Cunha (2000, 2002) Lopes (2006, 2009) and Mendonça (2002). The methodology consisted of documentary analysis of the collections of the following institutions: UFRJ Education and Society Program of Studies and Documentation; Portinari Project of PUC-Rio and Digital Library of the National Library. The analysis of the sources confirmed the difference in purposes between the National School of Fine Arts and the UDF Arts Institute, revealing the UDF's AI as an innovative experience in the field of art education in Brazil.
