O presente estudo teve por objetivo analisar a evolução das pesquisas científicas realizadas na Escola de Aperfeiçoamento de Oficiais. Para isto, foi utilizado como método o levantamento bibliográfico realizado por meio de pesquisas documentais, leis e portarias relativas ao Sistema de Educação Superior Militar no Exército, concomitantemente, com a análise dos Trabalhos de Conclusão de Curso realizados pelos capitães-alunos entre os anos de 1996 até 2017. Pode-se observar que, a evolução das pesquisas na EsAO teve como um dos principais resultados a separação do curso de Pósgraduação nas modalidades latosensu e stricto sensu. Por meio desta separação, o Sistema de Educação Superior Militar no Exército pode proporcionar aos capitães-alunos a possibilidade de desenvolver trabalhos de conclusão de curso da EsAO com reconhecimento nacional e internacional, dentro das normas que regulam o ensino superior no Brasil, com maior ou menor grau de aprofundamento das pesquisas científicas, dependendo da modalidade desenvolvida. Estes trabalhos podem ser apresentados nas formas de monografias, dissertações e artigos científicos, podendo, posteriormente, ser publicados em revista e sites acadêmicos
The objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of scientific research carried out at the School for the Improvement of Officers. For this, a bibliographical survey was carried out through documentary research, laws and ordinances related to the Military Higher Education System in the Army, concomitantly, with the analysis of the Completion Works carried out by the captain-students between the years of 1996 to 2017. It can be observed that the evolution of the research in EsAO had as one of the main results the separation of the Postgraduate course in the modalities latosensu and stricto sensu. By means of this separation, the Military Higher Education System in the Army can provide the captains-students with the possibility of developing studies for the conclusion of the course with national and international recognition within the norms that regulate higher education in Brazil, with higher or degree of deepening of scientific research, depending on the modality developed. These works can be presented in the form of monographs, dissertations and scientific articles, and can later be published in journals and academic sites
