ESTUDO DA APLICAÇÃO DO SOFTWARE ARENA EM UM CONTRATO DE PRESTAÇÃO DE SERVIÇO DE MANUTENÇÃO DE INSTRUMENTAÇÃO

Diante das exigências de mercado, a cada dia que passa as empresas tem que focar em sua eficiência e na
redução de custos, objetivando ter uma margem favorável entre receita e despesa de forma a se tornar
competitiva e se manter no mercado. Nesse contexto, a “Pesquisa Operacional” vem fornecendo importantes
fatos subsídios de apoio a tomada de decisão. Esta área difundiu-se e criou inúmeras subáreas, dentre elas a
de modelagem que posteriormente gerou a simulação. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste trabalho é validar a
premissa de que a simulação também é importante neste contexto através da investigação da aplicabilidade
de um software de simulação, o Arena da Rockwell Software, na execução de serviços de um contrato de
manutenção de instrumentação de uma empresa prestadora de serviços onshore e offshore. Neste trabalho, as
fases de um estudo de simulação foram utilizados e encontrou-se indicativos de sobrecarga (gargalos) e,
também, na substituição de recursos que viabilizaram a criação de cenários hipotéticos que contribuíram para
a validação da hipótese de que a simulação é uma importante ferramenta de auxílio no processo de tomada
de decisão.Conclui-se que apesar da utilidade dos indicadores, os subsídios fornecidos pela simulação
precisam ser investigados sobre outros aspectos, sendo importante levar em consideração se a empresa
suporta um aumento de recursos sobre o prisma do arranjo físico e também da viabilidade econômica e
financeira de tais mudanças.

Faced with the demands of the market, every day companies have to focus on efficiency and cost reduction,
aiming to have a favorable margin between revenue and expenditure in order to become competitive and stay
on the market. In this context, “Operational Research” has provided important insights to support decision
making. This area has spread and created numerous subareas, including the modeling that subsequently led
to the simulation. Thus, the objective of this study is to validate the premise that simulation is also important
in this context by investigating the applicability of simulation software, Arena of the Rockwell Software, at
the service execution of a contract for maintenance of an instrumentation company providing services
onshore and offshore. In this case study, the phases of a simulation study were used and found indications of
overload (bottlenecks) and also underuse of resources that enabled the creation of hypothetical scenarios that
contributed to the validation of the hypothesis that the simulation is an important tool to aid in the process of
decision making. It was concluded that despite the usefulness of indicators, the subsidies provided by the
simulation need to be investigated on other aspects, it is important to consider whether the company supports
an increase in resources over the prism of the physical arrangement and also the economic and financial
feasibility of such changes.
