A arquitetura flexível tem se mostrado como um modelo alternativo para a construção de edificações que sejam ajustáveis a diferentes atividades cotidianas, configurações familiares diversificadas e integração de novas ferramentas tecnológicas, além de possíveis demandas sociais, econômicas, climáticas e tecnológicas. Com o objetivo de identificar os princípios que fundamentam a concepção de um projeto residencial flexível, este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma revisão de literatura sobre o conceito de flexibilidade na arquitetura, exemplificando estratégias e técnicas facilitadoras. Verificou-se que a flexibilidade é fundamentada na compreensão do usuário como um integrante fundamental para a elaboração do projeto arquitetônico, em todas as suas fases, e que as estratégias se desdobram para aspectos do espaço urbano, da implantação da edificação, do desenho de planta baixa e das técnicas construtivas. Considera-se que a flexibilidade aplicada à tipologia habitacional aumenta o ciclo de vida da edificação, colaborando para uma arquitetura durável, sustentável e econômica.
Flexible architecture has been shown to be an alternative model for the construction of buildings that are adjustable to different daily activities, diversified family configurations, and integration of new technological tools, in addition to possible social, economic, climatic, and technological demands. With the aim of identifying the principles that underlie the conception of flexible residential architecture, this article presents the results of a literature review on the concept of flexibility in architecture, exemplifying strategies, and facilitating techniques. It was verified that flexibility is based on the understanding of the user as a fundamental member for the elaboration of the architectural project, in all its phases, and that the strategies unfold for aspects of the urban space, the implantation of the building, the floorplan design and constructive techniques. It is considered that the flexibility applied to housing typology increases the life cycle of the building, contributing to a durable, sustainable, and economical architecture.
