Os cosmecêuticos são produtos cosméticos tópicos destinados a melhorar a saúde e a beleza, com a utilização de princípios ativos que influenciam a função biológica da pele. O presente estudo teve como objetivo definir cosmecêuticos e suas funções, bem como explicar os principais ativos cosméticos antienvelhecimento quanto às suas indicações e benefícios. Foi reаlizаdа uma revisão bibliográfica narrativa, com buscа de artigos nаs bаses de dаdos Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Scientific Electronic Library Online e United States National Library of Medicine entre os аnos de 2010 а 2020 em inglês e português. A pele, principalmente do rosto, está exposta às agressões ambientais e à oxidação produzidas durante o metabolismo celular e o envelhecimento dessa estrutura é um processo multifatorial definido como o acúmulo de danos aos componentes celulares e extracelulares da pele que podem ser evitados ou removidos pela aplicação tópica de ingredientes ativos. Os cosmecêuticos podem ser usados para nutrir, melhorar a aparência, e também proteger a pele. Os princípios ativos em cosmecêuticos antienvelhecimento têm as principais características e funções: antioxidante (Vitamina B3, Vitamina E, Coenzima Q10), hidratante (Ácido hialurônico, Vitamina E e ureia) e renovação celular (Vitmanina A, Vitamina C e Vitamina B3).

Cosmeceuticals are cosmetic products available to improve health and beauty, using active ingredients that influence the biological function of the skin. The present study aimed to define cosmeceuticals and their functions, as well as to explain the main anti-aging cosmetic assets regarding their indications and benefits. The narrative bibliographic review was conducted, searching for articles in the databases of Virtual Health Library, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Scientific Electronic Library Online and United States National Library of Medicine between 2010 and 2020 in English and Portuguese. The skin, especially the face, is exposed to environmental aggressions and oxidation produced during cellular metabolism and the aging of this structure is a multifactorial process defined as the accumulation of damage to the cellular and extracellular components of the skin that can be avoided or removed by application topical use of active ingredients. Cosmeceuticals can be used to nourish, improve appearance, and also protect the skin. The active principles in anti-aging cosmeceuticals have as main characteristics and functions: antioxidant (Vitamin B3, Vitamin E, Coenzyme Q10), moisturizer (Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E and urea) and cell renewal (Vitmanina A, Vitamin C and Vitamin B3).
