Esse trabalho pretende analisar os primeiros escritos de Eduardo Paulo da Silva Prado (1860-1901), membro de uma das mais ricas e tradicionais famílias paulistas dos séculos XIX e XX. O corpus documental analisado refere-se ao período compreendido entre 1879 e 1881, quando Eduardo escreveu a coluna “Crônica da Assembleia” para o jornal Correio Paulistano. Investigar a forma como esse personagem atuou em um contexto social e político caracterizado por profundas transformações nos convida a um exercício de história intelectual que não fi que restrito à análise interna dos textos, mas que priorize a relação do sujeito com o seu campo de atuação social.
This work intends to analyze the early writings of Eduardo Paulo da Silva Prado (1860-1901), member o one of the richest and most traditional families of São Paulo nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Th e documentary examined refers to the period between 1879 and 1881, when Eduardo wrote the column “Crônica da Assembleia”” for the newspaper “Correio Paulistano”. To investigate how this character appeared in a social and political context characterized by profound changes in the calls to an exercise of intellectual history that is not restricted to the internal analysis of the texts, but that prioritizes the subject’s relations to his field of social action.
