Introduction:The training of neuromuscular control is important in rehabilitation and sports. Objective: To check the effects of neuromuscular control exercises of the shoulder girdle for basketball players in wheelchairs. Material and Methods: The research is characterized by a longitudinal study, it’s descriptive, exploratory, quantitative character. The sample was consisted of nine men, athletes practicing wheelchair basketball, with a mean age of 37.78 years, with spinal cord injury (67%), amputation (22%) and polio (11%). The neuromuscular control exercises were performed twice a week for fourteen weeks, in a total of twenty-five sessions. For the analysis was used the t-student test and the level of significance was p ≤ 0.05. It was made the test of speed and potential before and after intervention. Results: In the agility test there was a statistically significant difference (p <0.0001) when compared the values of the intervention made before, with an average of 18.13 ± 1.63 seconds, and after the intervention, with an average of 14, 29 ± 1.10 seconds; and the potency test, was identified a statistically significant difference (p <0.0013), where, in the phase before of the training, was obtained an average of 8.10 ± 1.04 cm and in phase after of the training, was obtained an average of 8.93 ± 0.78 cm. Conclusion: The neuromuscular control exercises of the shoulder girdle had a positive result in this research, by increasing the potential of the upper limbs and the agility in wheelchairs that are essential in the performance of this modality.
