Este artigo discorre sobre a importância da disciplina Educação Popular e trabalho associado, ofertada no Programa de Pós-graduação Stricto Sensu em Educação – Mestrado na Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso, alocada na Linha de Pesquisa: Educação e Diversidade, visando levantar os limites e as possibilidades da disciplina na formação política dos mestrandos, matriculados no período de 2013 a 2015. É uma pesquisa qualitativa e usou técnicas de: pesquisa bibliográfica, observação documental e questionário. Observou que a disciplina contribuiu com pesquisas para aprofundar o diálogo sobre o tema, tornando-se uma possibilidade para a construção da autonomia e conhecimento dos mestrandos, evidenciando a disciplina como instrumento de reflexão e formação. Contudo, existem limites e a serem superados para atingirmos uma educação emancipatória que cumpra os pressupostos da Educação Popular e do trabalho associado.

This article discusses the importance of the Popular Education and associated work discipline offered in the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Education - Master's Degree at the State University of Mato Grosso, allocated in the Research Line: Education and Diversity, aiming to raise the limits and the possibilities of the discipline in the political formation of the masters, enrolled in the period from 2013 to 2015. It is a qualitative research and used techniques of: bibliographic research, documentary observation and questionnaire. He observed that the discipline contributed with researches to deepen the dialogue on the subject, becoming a possibility for the construction of the autonomy and knowledge of the masters, evidencing the discipline as an instrument of reflection and formation. However, there are limits and to be overcome in order to achieve an emancipatory education that fulfills the presuppositions of Popular Education and associated work.
