Neste trabalho, procura-se sistematizar alguma bibliografia referente a educação como factor de desenvolvimento humano. Começa-se por entender o conceito de educação, sua relação com o desenvolvimento humano e finalmente a posição de Angola neste ranking. Como resultado desta sistematização, constatou-se que a educação já foi definida desde o ponto de vista pedagógico e sociológica, porém, apesar da diferença de critérios os autores concordam quando colocam o homem (sujeito, criança ou povo) no centro da actividade e que por meio dela conduz a sua transformação, ao desenvolvimento das sociedades. Por outro lado, a literatura, em geral, reconhece a existência de uma inter-relação entre os níveis de educação e de desenvolvimento de um país. Deste ponto de vista, o investimento em educação pode permitir alcançar um maior nível de desenvolvimento mas também este, por sua vez, pode gerar acréscimos no nível educativo da população, em geral. Finalmente Angola encontra-se nos países com o índice de desenvolvimento humano mais baixos do Mundo, ocupando a 5ª posição desta classificação. Deverá o governo angolano investir mais seriamente na educação, saúde para que se possa elevar a qualidade de vida dos angolanos e consequentemente melhor a nossa posição neste ranking.

In this work, we try to systematize some bibliography referring to education as a factor of human development. It begins by understanding the concept of education, its relation with human development and finally the position of Angola in this ranking. As a result of this systematization, it was found that education has already been defined from the pedagogical and sociological point of view, but despite the difference of criteria, the authors agree when they place the man (subject, child or people) at the center of the activity and through it leads to its transformation, to the development of societies. On the other hand, literature generally recognizes the existence of an interrelationship between a country's levels of education and development. From this point of view, investment in education can lead to a higher level of development, but this, in turn, can generate increases in the educational level of the population in general. Finally Angola is in the countries with the lowest human development index in the world, occupying the 5th position of this classification. Should the Angolan government invest more seriously in education, health in order to raise the quality of life of Angolans and consequently better our position in this ranking.
