Este ensaio tem por objetivo um estudo teórico sobre o campo disciplinar da história do tempo presente apresentando algumas reflexões sobre a prática de quem se debruça nessa tarefa. Um dos aspectos principais desse texto é fazer uma análise sobre a relação entre as diversas faces das teorias da história tentando compreende-las sob o viés comparativo dos usos e abusos da história. O motivo condutor que percorre esse ensaio é a arte de envelhecer. Procuramos estabelecer relações entre as teorias da história e como as mesmas ‘envelhecem’ no campo historiográfico. Assim, começamos o texto trazendo para o debate as definições de explicação e compreensão através da filosofia da história e em seguida entramos no campo da análise histórica da teoria propriamente dita no intuito de esclarecer tanto os caminhos do tempo presente quanto suas interseções com outras áreas de estudo.

This essay is a theoretical study of the discipline of the history of this time presenting some reflections on the practice who focuses on this task. A key aspect of this paper is to analyze the relationship between various aspects of the theories of history trying to understand them in a comparative outlook of the uses and abuses of history. The leitmotif that runs through this essay is the art of aging. Seek to establish relationships between theories of history and how the same 'age' the historiographical field. So we started bringing the text to debate the definitions of explanation and understanding through the philosophy of history, and then entered the field of historical analysis of the theory itself to clarify both ways this time as their intersections with other areas of study.
