O respeito às escolhas que remete a palavra diversidade é diretamente relacionado à relativização do patrimônio de diferentes culturas. O presente artigo busca enfatizar a importância da diversidade cultural para a proteção dos bens patrimoniais, principalmente no que tange a questões do patrimônio imaterial relacionado à religiosidade. A problemática da proteção do patrimônio é recorrente, e se torna ainda mais complexa quando se trata do patrimônio intangível, como por exemplo, a religião. O objeto de estudo são as devoções em Nossa Senhora de Navegantes e Iemanjá, ambas de forte representatividade em Pelotas – RS e a presença da diversidade cultural que se manifesta nas festas em honra a essas santas. O trabalho salienta que as manifestações religiosas de Navegantes e Iemanjá representam um exemplo da diversidade cultural de um patrimônio imaterial religioso nesta região. O método utilizado foi qualitativo, pesquisa histórica sobre as devoções em Pelotas, referências específicas sobre o patrimônio, religiosidade como sistema de significações, diversidade cultural, dentre outros. Pode-se afirmar que as devoções em Navegantes e Iemanjá e as festividades existentes em Pelotas em sua honra são importantes fatores de projeção da memória e identidade da comunidade local, reforçando o pertencimento, a visibilidade com relação ao lugar, a comunidade, seus bens patrimoniais, atividades tradicionais, dentre outros. A diversidade é fundamental na proteção dos bens imateriais, principalmente no que se refere às questões religiosas.

The respect to the choices which refers the word diversity is directly related to the relativism of heritage of different cultures. This article seeks to emphasize the importance of cultural diversity for the protection of the property, especially with regard to issues of intangible heritage related to religiosity. The issue of heritage protection is recurrent, and becomes even more complex when it comes to intangible heritage, such as religion. The object of study are the devotions at Our Lady of Navigators and Yemanja, both strong representation in Pelotas - RS and the presence of cultural diversity manifested in celebrations in honor of these saints. The paper emphasizes that religious manifestations at Navegantes and Yemanja represent an example of the cultural diversity of a religious intangible heritage in this region. The method used was qualitative, historical research on the devotions in Pelotas, specific references on assets, as religiosity of meanings, cultural diversity, among other. It can be affirmed that the devotions in Navegantes and Yemanja and festivals in Pelotas in his honor are important factors projection of memory and identity of the local community, strengthening the belonging, visibility to the place, the community, their assets, traditional activities, among others. Diversity is fundamental in protecting intangible property, principally in regard to religious matters.
