The advance in studies regarding the learning process promoted changes in school textbooks,
leading to the insertion of different strategies to support the content of the book. The present
study aimed to quantify and qualify the teaching strategies found i
n 3 collections of Science
textbooks from the final grades of Elementary School. As a methodology, a qualitative
-
quantitative research was carried out with the categorization of strategies according to their
origin (teacher's and student's book) and type o
f strategy (visual, auditory, experiential,
audiovisual and field trip). The results show that the three collections of the student's books and
two collections of the teacher's books presented experiential strategies as the main suggestions
for differentia
ted activities. The teacher's third collection presented mostly audiovisual
activities. Auditory strategies were the least addressed in all collections, presenting only 3
activities in only one collection in the student's book and 1 activity in the teacher
's book. In
conclusion, there was a great divergence between the collections regarding the availability and
encouragement of different strategies, despite the three collections having been approved by
the PNLD 2020. Thus, it emphasizes the need for a caref
ul reading by the teacher when
choosing the collection that will work
