As atividades de extensão do Programa Plantas Medicinais, da Universidade Federal do Paraná, em Palotina, PR, realizadas no Centro de Educação Integral de Palotina, ocorreram entre 2010 e 2018 e envolveram aproximadamente 850 crianças. Os objetivos das ações foram socializar informações científicas sobre plantas medicinais, como principais formas de cultivo, de usos, relação entre os nomes científicos e populares, finalidades terapêuticas, principais cuidados quanto ao uso e a toxicidade, e resgatar, por meio da tradição popular, o uso das plantas medicinais através de receitas culinárias caseiras. Para alcançar os objetivos, foram realizadas palestras, oficinas, dinâmicas com o uso de jogos didáticos, elaboração de cartazes, e a realização de gincanas para a fixação dos conteúdos de forma interativa. Além disto, foram preparadas algumas receitas caseiras com plantas medicinais, inclusive com algumas trazidas de casa pelas próprias crianças. Observou-se grande interesse e participação o que resultou em boa assimilação dos conteúdos, que foi observada por meio das respostas obtidas após questionamentos ou com o reconhecimento das espécies, das suas formas de uso e cuidados. Por meio de atividades diversificadas e lúdicas, o conhecimento científico tornou-se mais instigante. Desta forma, as ações extensionistas permitiram a construção e o compartilhamento do conhecimento entre todos os envolvidos, ou seja, entre a comunidade e a universidade.

The extension activities of the Medicinal Plants Program, organized by the Federal University of Paraná, in Palotina, PR, performed at the Full-time Education Center, took place between 2010 and 2018 and involved approximately 850 children. The objectives of the actions were to socialize scientific information about medicinal plants, such as the main forms of cultivation, uses, and the relationship between scientific and popular names, therapeutic purposes, and main knowledge regarding use and toxicity, the strengthening of popular tradition, the use of medicinal plants using home recipes. In order to reach the objectives, lectures, workshops, dynamics were carried out with the use of educational games, the elaboration of posters to fix the knowledge in an interactive way. In addition, some homemade recipes were prepared using medicinal plants, including some recipes brought from home by the children. It was observed a great interest and participation resulting in a good assimilation of the topics, which was observed through the answers obtained after questioning or with the recognition of the species based on their correct preparation. Through diversified and playful activities, the scientific importance of medicinal plants has become more instigating. In this way, the extensionist actions allowed the construction and sharing of knowledge among all involved, that is, between the community and the university. Keywords: Education. Health.
