CONTRIBUIÇÕES DA HISTÓRIA DA LEITURA E DA ESCRITA PARA A HISTÓRIA DA EDUCAÇÃO NO BRASIL (1998-2010)

A leitura no Brasil e sua história têm sido temas de congressos de abrangência nacional e internacional desde a década de 1990, sendo predominante nos eventos da área de Educação. Essa constatação, feita primeiramente durante a participação nesses encontros, inspirou-nos uma pesquisa na qual questionamos sobre as contribuições da História da Leitura e da Escrita para o desenvolvimento de pesquisas em Educação. Apresentamos aqui os resultados desta investigação desenvolvida a partir dos trabalhos publicados em anais de quatro congressos qualificados na área (1998-2010): Congresso de História da Leitura e do Livro no Brasil (COHILILE), Congresso de Leitura do Brasil (COLE), Reuniões Anuais da Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Educação (ANPEd), Congresso Brasileiro de História da Educação (CBHE). Nestes, analisamos as principais fontes e referenciais teórico-metodológicos utilizados, tendo como metodologia a pesquisa bibliométrica. Os resultados indicam como a metodologia historiográfica vem ampliando as possibilidades de compreensão do papel da leitura e da escrita na sociedade brasileira, especialmente nos processos de escolarização.

Reading in Brazil and its history has been the subject of conferences nationwide and internationally since the 1990s, being predominant in the events in the area of Education. This observation, first made during the participation in these events, inspired us to engage in a research which questions about the contributions of the History of Reading and Writing for the development of research in Education. Here we present the results of this investigation developed from the works published in proceedings of four conferences skilled in the area (1998-2010): Congress of History of the Book and Reading in Brazil (COHILILE), Reading Congress of Brazil (COLE), The annual Meetings of the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPEd), Brazilian Congress of History of Education (CBHE). In these, we analyze the major theoretical and methodological sources and references used, adopting the bibliometric research methodology. The results indicate how the historiography methodology has broadened the possibilities for understanding the role of reading and writing in the Brazilian society, especially in the schooling processes.
