O presente artigo destaca as descobertas alcançadas através de um projeto da Fatec de São Sebastião sobre o cooperativismo da região. Tem por objetivo conhecer organizações cujas características e motivações se diferenciam das empresas que seguem a lógica do capital, entretanto, participam do mercado capitalista e verificar os avanços e limites, compreender o contexto em que foi formada, as motivações dos cooperados e os resultados econômicos e sociais. Os dados foram obtidos através de um grupo de pesquisa realizado na Fatec de São Sebastião que aplicou um roteiro de entrevista em cooperativas da região. Verificou-se o histórico das associações, a organização e gestão dos cooperados. Descobriu-se, então, o papel da mulher em uma das cooperativas e este artigo propõe essa discussão. Os dados mostram que uma gestão organizada e transparente, supre os elos da cadeia produtiva, mas precisa de trabalho conjunto e profissionalismo. A mulher tem seu papel na sociedade e também na cooperativa. Políticas de gênero é um tema atual e merece destaque em pesquisas futuras. A cooperativa analisada é da cidade de São Sebastião e atende famílias não só das proximidades, como também de cidades vizinhas.

This article highlights the findings of a project from Fatec São Sebastião on the cooperativeness of the region. Organizations aim to understand the characteristics and motivations which differ from companies that follow the logic of capital, but also to participate in the capitalist market and check the progress and limits, understand the context in which it was formed, the motivations and the economic and social results of cooperative. The data were obtained by a research group performed in Fatec São Sebastião which conducted an interview in the cooperatives of the region. There was a history of associations, organization and management of cooperatives. It turned out, then, that the role of women in a cooperative and this article proposes the discussion. The data show that an organized and transparent management, provide the links of the production chain, but it is necessary to work together and professionalism. The woman has her role in society and also in the cooperative. Gender politics is a current topic and deserves attention in future research. The analyzed cooperative is in the city of São Sebastião and serves families not only nearby, but also from the neighboring towns.
