A CONSTRUÇÃO DE SENTIDO DO ADJETIVO GRANDE: UM ESTUDO NA PERSPECTIVA DA TOPE

O objetivo do presente trabalho é discutir a construção de sentido do adjetivo grande, observar as Operações de Qualificação e Quantificação nas suas ocorrências e elaborar a Forma Esquemática, que sintetiza a regularidade dos seus usos. Contrastando com a visão da Gramática Normativa e da Gramática de Uso, tem-se como suporte teórico a Teoria das Operações Predicativas e Enunciativas (TOPE) de Antoine Culioli (1990), que adota uma linha de investigação voltada para a identidade e variação das unidades morfolexicais, a qual é desenvolvida por Franckel (2006), Vogüé (2000, 2011) e Paillard (2011). A respectiva teoria entende o enunciado como um agenciamento de operações e o léxico não é visto como um material pré-construído e instaurado pela organização sintática dos enunciados, e sim, como lugar de uma variação regrada, ou seja, as unidades não são portadoras de sentido em si mesmas, mas seus sentidos são advindos do funcionamento delas num espaço enunciativo, independente da categoria à qual pertença. Para as análises utilizou-se o corpus para pesquisa linguística denominado PORFATER. Pelas análises constatou-se que a Operação de Qualificação foi preponderante em relação à Operação de Quantificação e que a construção de sentido desse adjetivo depende da natureza semântica do nome a que se refere.

The objective of this paper is to discuss the construction of meaning of adjective 'grande' from the Portuguese language, observe the Qualification and Quantification Operations in its occurrences, and prepare the Schematic Form, which summarizes the regularity of its uses. In contrast to the view of the Normative Grammar and of the Usage Grammar, the theoretical support came from the Theory of the Predicative and Enunciative Operations (TOPE, in Portuguese) by Antoine Culioli (1990), which adopts a line of research that is focused on identity and variation of morpholexical units, which is developed by Franckel (2006), Vogüé (2000, 2011), and Paillard (2011). The aforementioned theory considers the statement as a management of operations and the lexicon is not seen as a pre-built material and introduced by the syntactic organization of statements, but rather as a place of orderly change, i.e., the units are not carriers of meaning in themselves, but their senses are arising in their operation in an enunciative space, regardless of the category to which it belongs. For the analyses, the linguistic search corpus called PORFATER was used. Through the analyses, it was found that the Qualification Operation was predominant in relation to the Quantification Operation, and the construction of meaning of that adjective depends on the semantic nature of the name to which it relates.
