O objetivo deste ensaio é apresentar uma análise do filme “1917”, dirigido por Sam Mendes (2019) como proposição para se compreender a autoridade e a responsabilidade no processo de transmissão da palavra para o outro. Compreendemos que no campo educacional a transmissão da palavra está relacionada ao saber que é inerente à função do professor que se apresenta como mensageiro da cultura escolar. Portanto, em diversas ocorrências em sala de aula, coloca-se em evidência o estranhamento no modo como fazemos as coisas, no sentido de assumir a autoridade e responsabilidade para se obter resultados em nossos encontros, no processo de se dizer algo para o outro. Em termos de conclusão, fica em aberto a discussão sobre qual seria o elemento central nessa função de autoridade e responsabilidade como mensageiro da cultura. Em relação ao filme, a autoridade e responsabilidade ficam em evidência para se evitar a perda de vidas humanas no pedido de cancelamento do ataque das tropas. Entretanto, podemos pensar criticamente que as mensagens no campo da cultura escolar também poderiam evitar a perda de vidas humanas ao possibilitar aos sujeitos o freio psíquico para viver na civilização. Portanto, cabe ao processo educacional evitar que possamos nos tornar completamente intolerantes e irracionais, mais propriamente, autoritários e irresponsáveis no modo de viver ao anular a presença do outro.

The objective of this essay is to present an analysis of the film "1917", directed by Sam Mendes (2019) as a proposition to understand authority and responsibility in the process of transmitting the word to the other. We understand that in the educational field the transmission of the word is related to the knowledge that is inherent to the function of the teacher who presents himself as a messenger of school culture. Therefore, in various occurrences in the classroom, the strangeness in the way we do things, in the sense of assuming authority and responsibility to obtain results in our meetings, in the process of saying something to the other, is highlighted. In conclusion, there is an open discussion about what would be the central element in this role of authority and responsibility as messenger of culture. In relation to the film, authority and responsibility are in evidence in order to avoid the loss of human lives in the request to cancel the troops' attack. However, we can think critically that messages in the field of school culture could also avoid the loss of human life by enabling subjects to put the psychic brake on living in civilization. Therefore, it is up to the educational process to prevent us from becoming completely intolerant and irrational, more properly, authoritarian and irresponsible in the way we live by annulling the presence of the other.
