O artigo aborda as representações e práticas docentes em torno da sexualidade humana, ressaltando a homossexualidade no âmbito escolar, no nível fundamental da rede regular de ensino público do município de Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). É resultado de pesquisa iniciada pelo autor em 2009 e encerrada em 2012, em razão do mestrado em Políticas Sociais, realizado na Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF). A pesquisa tomou por base as respostas de doze professores que faziam parte do Clube de Ciências da Secretaria Municipal de Educação, Cultura e Esportes (SMECE) de Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). A escolha do grupo deu-se, dentre outras razões, em virtude do pouco tempo para realizar uma pesquisa mais abrangente num universo de aproximadamente cento e vinte professores que lecionavam as disciplinas em trinta e três escolas que possuíam o ensino fundamental (6º ao 9º ano) no referido município. Seu aporte teórico é constituído por estudos de autores ligados ao tema da sexualidade humana, com foco na homossexualidade, formação de educadores, educação sexual no contexto escolar e sobre as políticas públicas voltadas à população de Lésbicas, Gays, Bissexuais, Travestis e Transgêneros (LGBT).

The article addresses the representations and teaching practices around human sexuality, emphasizing homosexuality in the school environment, at the fundamental level of the regular public education network of the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). It is the result of research initiated by the author in 2009 and closed in 2012, due to the Master's degree in Social Policies, held at the State University of Northern Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF). The research based on the responses of twelve teachers who were part of the Science Club of the Municipal Secretariat of Education, Culture and Sports (SMECE) of Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). The group's choice was given, among other reasons, due to the short time to conduct a more white research in a universe of approximately one hundred and twenty teachers who taught the disciplines in thirty-three schools that had elementary school (6th to 9th grade) in that municipality. Its theoretical contribution consists of studies by authors related to the theme of human sexuality, focusing on homosexuality, training educators, sex education in the school context and on public policies aimed at the population of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites and Transgender (LGBT).
