The selection processes for admission to technical courses integrated to high school at the Federal Institute of Triângulo Mineiro / Campus Avançado Uberaba Parque Tecnológico - IFTM / CAUPT - use the vacancy reservation system as an affirmative action policy in compliance with Law nº 12,711 / 2012. The use of these policies has been the subject of research, in order to show that educational policies of inclusion through Reserved Vacancies - RV – are not enough if the school institution does not carry out a strategic project aimed to ensuring of the students permanence and success. In this line, this research aimed to understand and analyze the implementation of quotas under the terms of Law nº. 12,711 / 2012, within the scope of IFTM / CAUPT, and to verify the actions developed by the Educational Institution aimed at the permanence and success of quota students. In the investigation of a period of three selection processes (2015 to 2017), the study result reveals that 270 vacancies were offered, of which 156 were allocated to the affirmative action policies adopted by the Educational institution by Law nº 12,711/2012, which is the equivalent to 57.7%. Of those registered in Reserved Vacancies, 82 completed their studies in the three-year period, which is equivalent to 52.5% of those entering by quota. Of those who entered by wide competition, of the 114 registered, 97 completed at the end of three years of the course, which is the equivalent to 85% of those entering this course. Of the candidates who entered through the PPI group (L2 and L4), there were a total of 37 students who commenced, stayed and were successful with the completion of the course in the three-year period. That is a low number in relation to the other groups. The result also points to a drop in the choice of entry through the Reserve of Vacancies.
