OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the correlation between fall and stability indices and between fall and weight distribution indices in Parkinson's disease patients. METHOD: Thirty patients with Parkinson's disease were evaluated using Tetrax Interactive Balance System posturography (TetraxTM) in 8 different sensory conditions. Fall, stability and weight distribution indices were measured and compared.RESULTS: The results showed that fall index correlated with stability index in all eight sensory conditions, and with the weight distribution index in five conditions.CONCLUSION: There is a correlation between fall and stability indices, and between fall and weight distribution indices among Parkinson's disease patients; the higher the weight distribution and stability indices, the higher is the fall index.
