Sempre coube a cada sujeito investigador — munido de lentes próprias, quer sejam das
ciências naturais, quer sejam das ciências ditas humanas — encontrar caminhos teóricos que
contribuam com a compreensão da realidade. As divergências tornam-se mais acentuadas
quando se desvelam argumentos que advogam em favor do potencial iluminador do discurso
literário: a literatura é uma forma válida de conhecimento? Nosso trabalho, pautando-se por
recenseamento bibliográfico, intenta colocar, no centro da arena, os discursos literário e
cientÃfico propriamente dito, a fim de alcançar considerações finais que apontem para o fato
de que ambas as manifestações discursivas são indispensáveis ao homem.
It has always been up to each investigative human being — armed with his own lenses,
whether they belong to natural sciences, whether they come, so to speak, from the human
sciences — to find theoretical paths which contribute to the understanding of our reality. The
discrepancies become more pronounced when arguments that advocate in favor of the
illuminating potential of literary discourse get unveiled: is the literature a valid form of
knowledge? Our essay, guiding itself through bibliographical census, attempts to put, in the
middle of the arena, the literary discourse and the scientific discourse itself, in order to reach
final considerations which point out the fact that both discursive manifestations are essential
to the human being.
