O objetivo deste trabalho é repensar a noção de biopolÃtica em um sentido “neutroâ€, ou seja, não exatamente oposto à acepção negativa de Foucault, de disciplina do corpo determinada por uma dada conjuntura sócio-histórica, mas enfatizando o caráter necessariamente biopolÃtico de qualquer relação concebÃvel de poder entre os seres humanos, não importa se de cima para baixo, como a do estado sobre o povo, ou mais “horizontalâ€, como as relações de micropoder da vida cotidiana. Em outras palavras, não há relação de poder entre seres humanos em meio à s quais os corpos não desempenhem um papel central. E não há relação entre os corpos que não seja mediada pelo gosto. O gosto, por sua vez, não é inato, mas culturalmente mediado. Por isso uma investigação que toma o conceito de gosto como ponto de partida pode contribuir para a nossa compreensão sobre as relações de poder em geral, em meio à s quais os dispositivos de comunicação capitalisticamente socializados – isto é, a mÃdia – desempenham um papel não negligenciável.
Hypothesis of a Biopolitical Genealogy of Taste – The goal of this paper is to rethink the notion of biopolitics in a somewhat “neutral†sense, i.e., not exactly opposed to Foucault’s negative sense of discipline of the body determined by a given sociohistorical setting, but emphasizing the necessarily biopolitical nature of any conceivable relationship among humans, regardless of whether it is from the top down, such as that of the state over the people, or the more “horizontal†relationships of micro-power in daily life. In other words, there is no relationship of power among humans in which bodies do not play a central role. And there is no relationship between bodies that is not mediated by taste (or inclination). Taste, in turn, is not innate but culturally mediated. Therefore, an investigation that takes the concept of taste as a starting point can contribute to our understanding of power relationships in general, in which capitalistically socialized communication devices, i.e., the media, play a major role today.
