afetando as relações interpessoais, sociais e a própria
identidade do sujeito.
This article approaches the relationship of the media with
consumption and the influence on the population’s health.
The exarcebated consumption is one of the illnesses of
society, stimulated by the media and affects the
interpersonal and social relationships, and even the
subject’s identity. The reflections of the media on the
consumption are evidenced in the advertising of alcohol,
cigarettes, toys, cosmetics, revealing the double face of
consumption: a search for belonging and a way of inclusion
and, on the other hand, the depression (or emptiness) in
view of the lack of control and limits in the act of shopping.
