Impostas à existência como mulheres surdas serem narradas sob a ótica da deficiência, historicamente esse grupo foi e é sujeitado a diversos tipos de violência. Na atualidade mulheres surdas têm conquistado lugar de destaque na sociedade. Mas uma parte representativa destas mulheres ainda sofre por ser apartada e destituída da plena participação social. O objetivo deste texto é tensionar a reflexão sobre como as mulheres surdas na atualidade enfrentam as barreiras que a sociedade impõe. Para tanto, apresentamos relatos narrados durante o II CONALI (Congresso Nacional de Libras), ocorrido em abril de 2023, em Brasília (DF). As questões que emergiram nos diálogos realizados no Grupo de Trabalho que debateu sobre as questões de direito deste grupo trazem indicativos de como as mulheres surdas enfrentam inúmeras barreiras sociais, muitas delas impostas pela ótica da deficiência, imputando-lhes o lugar de incapazes e constituindo-as em vítimas de múltiplas violências.
Imposed into existence as deaf women narrated from the perspective of disability, historically this group has been and is subjected to various types of violence. Today, deaf women have gained a prominent place in society. But a representative proportion of these women still suffer from being ostracized and deprived of full social participation. The aim of this text is to encourage reflection on how deaf women today face the barriers that society imposes. To this end, we present stories told during the II CONALI (National Congress of Libras), which took place in April 2023, in Brasília (DF). The issues that emerged in the dialogues held in the Working Group that debated this group’s rights issues are indicative of how deaf women face countless social barriers, many of them imposed from the perspective of disability, making them incapable and constituting them victims of multiple forms of violence.
