The discovery of new areas of occurrence in the State of Rio Grande do Sul of sedimentary rocks belonging to the Itararé Group has provided important information in order to improve the understanding of the stratigraphic characteristics of this unit, as well as the nature of the Gondwanian glaciation occurred in the southern portion of the Paraná Basin
