A VILA ZUMBI DOS PALMARES SOB A ÓTICA GEOGRÁFICA

Buscou-se associar elementos das geografias urbana e cultural
no sentido de desconstruir alguns dos mitos criados com relação às periferias
urbanas, contextualizando as semiologias estabelecidas e reestabelecidas em
uma vila localizada na porção leste do entorno do Aglomerado Metropolitano de
Curitiba – a vila Zumbi dos Palmares. Destacam-se dois momentos: o primeiro,
abarcando desde sua origem no ano de 1991, a partir de uma ocupação irregular,
periferizada com inúmeras precariedades socioeconômicas e infraestrutura
precária e o segundo ao sofrer forte intervenção do Estado, a partir do ano de 2004,
com a implantação de um projeto de regularização fundiária e desenvolvimento
socioambiental. Assim, a Vila Zumbi passou por transformações, as quais
promoveram um grande êxodo dos seus ocupantes iniciais e ao mesmo tempo,
atraíram outros, portadores de diferentes bagagens culturais.

We tried to associate elements in urban and cultural geographies
in order to deconstruct some of the myths related to urban peripheries,
contextualizing the semiology established and reestablished in a village in
the eastern portion of the surrounding cluster of Metropolitan Curitiba - the
village Zumbi dos Palmares. We highlight two points: the first, covering from
its origin in 1991, beginning with an illegal occupation, marginalized with
many socioeconomic difficulties and poor infrastructure. The second point
is when village Zumbi suffered a strong state intervention in the year 2004,
with the implementation of a land regularization project and environmental
development. Thus, village Zumbi went through transformations, which
promoted an exodus of its original occupants and at the same time, attracted
other people of different cultural background.
