No presente artigo buscou-se reconstituir a trajetória de Bento de Figueiredo Tenreiro Aranha (1841-1919), jornalista, político, poeta e historiador paraense que construiu sua carreira entre as Províncias, posteriormente Estados, do Pará e Amazonas. Bento Aranha teve uma produção intelectual diversificada, publicando textos de História política, biografias, trajetórias e estudos sobre a Geografia da região Amazônica, além de fazer parte de instituições como o Arquivo Público do Estado do Amazonas e o Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Pará (IHGPA). Pretende-se, através da análise de sua produção e atuação institucional, identificá-lo como um dos autores que, entre a segunda metade do século XIX e início do século XX, lançaram as bases da pesquisa histórica no Amazonas.

In this article, we sought to reconstruct the trajectory of Bento de Figueiredo Tenreiro Aranha (1841-1919), a journalist, politician, poet and historian from Pará who built his career between the Provinces, later States, Pará and Amazonas. Bento Aranha had a diverse intellectual production, publishing texts on political history, biographies, trajectories and studies on the Geography of the Amazon region, in addition to being part of institutions such as the Public Archive of the State of Amazonas and the Historical and Geographical Institute of Pará (IHGPA). It is intended, through the analysis of his production and institutional performance, to identify him as one of the authors who, between the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, laid the foundations of historical research in Amazonas.
