A TEORIA ÉTICA UTILITARISTA E SEU IMPACTO NOS PROCESSOS DECISÓRIOS DAS INSTITUIÇÕES DE ENSINO SUPERIOR

O presente trabalho se propôs a questionar e avaliar o impacto do emprego da ética
utilitarista em processos decisórios dos líderes da atualidade, especialmente daqueles que decidem o
futuro das Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) no Brasil. O presente artigo deteve-se ao estudo
investigativo através de revisão bibliográfica e reflexões de alguns estudiosos que estão inseridos na
atualidade. O texto foi dividido em quatro partes principais, onde realizamos abordagens acerca das
concepções críticas da ética, seus pressupostos e aplicabilidade da ética utilitarista, o utilitarismo e sua
aplicação em gestão das IES. Concluímos que, especialmente nesses tempos atuais de turbulência e
mudanças ininterruptas, não seria possível para um bom líder, sendo ele preocupado com valores
intrínsecos à humanidade, mas em contrapartida não podendo abster-se de tomar suas decisões e
simplesmente ignorar o que as mesmas poderiam causar a sociedade em geral; este gestor, por sua vez,
encontra-se inserido num contexto em que está imbuído, realmente e eficazmente, a fazer uma
diferença positiva em seu local de atuação, não apenas baseando-se em um tipo de ética, mas sim,
devendo ele utilizar-se da ética das convicções como fundamento, onde os princípios éticos
utilitaristas serão foco principal, visando o maior benefício ao maior número de pessoas possível.

Resumo Inglês:

This paper intends to question and evaluate the impact of using utilitarian ethics in
decision-making processes of the nowadays´ leaders, especially those who decide the future of Higher
Education Institutions (HEIs) in Brazil. For this paper it was did an investigative study through
literature review and reflections of some researches, the text was divided into four main parts, the used
approaches to the critical insights of ethics, its assumptions and applicability of utilitarian ethics,
utilitarianism and its application in management of HEIs. Therefore, it was concluded that especially
in these current times of globalization and and continual changes, it would not be possible for a good
leader, and he was concerned about the intrinsic values of humanity, but on the other hand, they can´t
refrain from taking decisions and simply ignore what they could cause to society in general, this
manager, in turn, is inserted in a context that is imbued with, really and effectively, to make a positive
difference in your place of work, not just relying on one type ethics, but rather it should be used ethics
as a foundation of belief, where ethical principles are utilitarian focus, targeting the most benefit to as
many people as possible.
