A teologia política de Carl Schmitt e Johann Baptist Metz: uma abordagem comparativa

Johann Baptist Metz influenciou gerações de teólogos através do conceito de nova teologia política. Para o autor, a teologia deve ser direcionada à situação real sob a forma de crítica social em favor do ser-sujeito de todos. Como exemplo da tradicional teologia política destaca-se o jurista Carl Schmitt, associado ao regime nazista, que em sua obra Teologia Políticadefine o sujeito como o soberano relacionado ao ilimitado exercício do poder com a suspensão dos direitos dos indivíduos no estado de exceção.Este artigo confronta algumas características da teologia política dos referidos autores, elucidando em que sentido a teologia de Metz pode ser definida como “nova” teologia política. Por meio da análise do conteúdo selecionado, é possível identificar através do conceito de “sujeito” as diferentes perspectivas adotadas pelos autores e que evidenciam a oposição entre a valorização do sujeito enquanto vítima em Metz e a submissão do indivíduo diante do poder do soberano em Schmitt.

ohann Baptist Metz influenced generations of theologians through the concept of new political theology. For the author, the theology must be directed to the real situation in the form of social critic in favor of the subject-being of all. As an example of the traditional political theology, stands out the jurist Carl Schmitt, associated with the Nazi regime, who in his work Political Theologydefines the subject as the sovereign related to the unlimited exercise of power with the suspension of the rights of individuals in the state of exception. This article addresses some characteristics of the authors’ political theology, clarifying in what sense Metz’s theology can be defined as a “new” politicaltheory. Through the analysis of the selected content it is possible to identify through the concept of “subject” the different perspectives adopted by the authors wich evidence the opposition between the valorization of the subject as a victim in Metz andthe submission of the individual before the power of the sovereign in Schmitt
