Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases that affects humans, reaching countries at all stages of development. This study aimed to analyze the concentration of type 2 DM in the urban area of Viçosa-MG, in the 40-year old age group, through geoprocessing techniques. DM data was obtained from the City Hall for the collection of the Reorganization Plan for Attention to Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus. As a result, 2 thematic maps were generated through the Arc View 3.2 software. In analyzing the thematic maps, it is possible to see that the DM is spatially formational, with central and peripheral areas with the presence of disease. This technology has been shown to be important for the location and spatialization of individuals with DM, and it can be applied to any municipalities at high cost
