The figuiras are dependent of microhomoptera of the family Agaonidade for the pollination of their flowers. As there is a controversy about the species-specific pollination of the genus Ficus, a study was carried out with exotic species. No pollinating wasps were found in the species studied, except for Ficus microcarpa. In this species from South Asia and Autralia, the wasp is the same as the pollinate in the Asian region. These findings suggest that the pollinator specificity for fig species actually occurs, at least in the species studied.
