RISO E FUNÇÃO SOCIAL NA FILOSOFIA DE BERGSON

Esse artigo tem como objeto o significado do riso e sua função social propostos pelo filósofo francês Henri-Louis Bergson (1859 - 1941) em sua obra O riso: ensaio sobre a significação da comicidade (1899). Nossa investigação visa especificamente às noções de riso e comicidade no pensamento do filósofo. O riso, para Bergson, possui uma função social. Essa função diz respeito a uma tentativa de correção da insociabilidade, da rigidez e do automatismo que se apresentam no homem, características tais que, aos olhos da sociedade, poderiam ameaçar a convivência pacífica entre os indivíduos e, portanto, a ordem social.

This article aims at the meaning of laughter and its social function proposed by the french philosopher Henri-Louis Bergson (1859-1941) in his work Laughter: An Essay on the Meaning of the Comic (1899). Our research specifically addresses the notions of laughter and comedy in the philosopher's thinking. Laughter, for Bergson, has a social function. This function concerns an attempt to correct the unsociability, rigidity and automatism that appear in man, characteristics that, for the society, could threaten the peaceful coexistence between individuals and, therefore, the social order.
