ensaio analisa o romance HHhH(2009), de laurent Binet. argumenta-se que o narrador apresenta um con-junto de cláusulas estipuladas como pré-condições para a reconstrução narrativa do passado histórico: esta deve ser escrupulosa, no sentido da fidelidade ao efetivamente acontecido, e ao mesmo tempo pictoriamente rica, um relato cheio de vida. argumenta-se também que a encenação ficcional dos dilemas do narrador, a respeito da construção do relato, torna possível o engajamento do leitor em um produti-vo diálogo interno. tal diálogo permite a consideração, pelo leitor, dos termos da proposta radical de repactuação do romance histórico e da ficção biográfi-ca, como figurada no romance.

This essay examines Laurent Binet’s novel hhhh (2009). One argues that the novel’s narrator presents a set of clausesas condi-tions for reconstructing the historical past: such reconstruction must be scrupulous, i.e.true to what actually happened, and at the same time pictorially rich, full of life. One also argues that fictional staging of narrator’s dilemmas regarding the cons-truction of the story allows the reader to engage in a productive internal dialogue. This latter makes it possible for the reader to consider the terms of the radical proposal fora new pact around historical novel and biographical fiction as figured in the novel.
